Castalian String Quartet

The “Beethoven and Egypt” project, conceived and proposed by Unione Musicale and EstOvest Festival to mark the bicentennial of the Egyptian Museum of Turin, spans a timeline from 1824, the year the museum was founded, to the present day, 2024.
These chronological references are highlighted by the musical program, which in a play of alternation between past and present, mirrors and intersects one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most significant compositions, the Quartet Op. 127 written precisely in 1824, with the new work Ramses Rock, commissioned for the occasion by Francesco Antonioni, who drew inspiration from the timeless treasures of the Egyptian Museum.
