Here is an extraordinary meeting of exceptional young talents: Leonkoro Quartet, one of the most awarded ensembles from Berlin, and the charismatic violist Timothy Ridout, a star of the international scene.
Founded in Berlin in 2019, Leonkoro Quartet has quickly earned prestigious accolades — from the Wigmore Hall Competition in London to Bordeaux, and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust — and recently completed a North American tour that thrilled both audiences and critics: “An intense maturity and rare interpretive clarity,” wrote Classical Voice North America.
Joining them is Timothy Ridout, a multi-award-winning violist and regular guest at the world’s most renowned concert halls, described by Le Monde as “one of the very few violists today in the circle of the greats.” Celebrated for his rich tone and vast expressive palette, Ridout is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, as well as the protagonist of numerous acclaimed recordings.
The program brings together three masterpieces: Haydn’s Quartet Op. 20 No. 4, the vibrant transcription for solo viola of Bach’s Chaconne, and Brahms’ magnificent Quintet Op. 111 — the composer’s final chamber work.
