After her unforgettable recital in May 2021, British cellist Natalie Clein returns to Unione Musicale, joined by the poetic pianist Cédric Pescia, for a concert that pairs masterpieces by Schubert and Brahms with striking 20th-century works.
Opening the program is the intimate, contemplative Méditation hébraïque by Bloch, which sets the tone for a richly varied journey: from the sharp, modernist miniatures of Elisabeth Lutyens’ 9 Bagatelles, Op. 10—a pioneering voice in British twelve-tone music.
At the heart of the program is a voice from the present: L’innominata, a work written for Natalie Clein by Brian Elias, one of the UK’s most refined contemporary composers, known for exploring inner tensions with a highly personal and imaginative language.
Critics and audiences alike recognize Natalie Clein as a truly original artist: “Sumptuous sound, never self-indulgent; an authentic voice that always goes beyond the surface” (The Strad).
Not to be missed!
