Forty years after their debut, Francesco and Angelo Pepicelli return to the stage with renewed creative energy and a name that perfectly captures their artistic identity: PiCello Bros.
A close-knit duo, they have performed on the world’s most prestigious stages—from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Salle Gaveau in Paris, from Suntory Hall in Tokyo to the Coliseum in Buenos Aires—and recorded for labels such as Decca and Naxos, combining impeccable technique, expressive depth, and an inexhaustible desire to reinvent themselves.
The program presented at the Unione Musicale intertwines famous works with unusual transcriptions of Beethoven and Chopin, in a play of mirrors and contrasts between classical and romantic, formal rigor and expressive freedom.
The heart of the evening is “Presenze riflesse,” a piece written specifically for PiCello Bros by Roberto Molinelli and dedicated to Alfred Schnittke. A multi-stylistic composer par excellence, Schnittke is evoked here in a tribute that intertwines cinema, memory, irony, and lyrical tension, with echoes of Shostakovich, Bach, Nino Rota, and more.
