After electrifying major European concert halls, the Simply String Quartet makes its debut at Unione Musicale, and is already regarded as one of the most exciting string quartets of the new generation.
Founded in Shanghai and artistically refined in Vienna under the mentorship of Johannes Meissl, the ensemble has won first prize at four prestigious international chamber music competitions: the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition (2019), Quatuor à Bordeaux (2019), the Franz Schubert and Modern Music Competition (2018), and the 7th International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition (2017). Recently selected as an ECHO Rising Star, the quartet has also been appointed guest professor at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music starting in 2024.
The Simply Quartet is known for its perfect balance of technical precision, interpretative drive, and analytical depth. Critics praise them as “an ensemble that brings music to life—rigorous, passionate, and deeply communicative.”
In Turin, the group presents a program that reflects their curiosity and willingness to go beyond the standard repertoire: alongside Wolf’s lively Italian Serenade and Brahms’s Quartet in A minor, Op. 51 No. 2—a chamber masterpiece with symphonic breadth—they include the Quartet in G major by Emilie Mayer, a refined Romantic composer often referred to as the “female Beethoven.”
An unmissable debut for anyone who loves string quartets in their most vibrant and contemporary form.
