Making her Unione Musicale debut, Barbara Hannigan brings to Turin one of the defining projects of her artistic journey, created together with the French pianist Bertrand Chamayou, a partner of extraordinary sensitivity.
Soprano, conductor, and performer of magnetic stage presence, Hannigan conceives her recitals as genuine dramaturgical journeys, in which each work finds its meaning through dialogue with the others.
Messiaen, Scriabin, and John Zorn shape an itinerary of intense spiritual and visionary tension. The meditation of Chants de terre et de ciel is echoed by the restless lyricism of Scriabin’s piano works and by Jumalattaret, the cycle in which Zorn evokes the ancient female deities of the Kalevala through vocal writing of exceptional complexity, entrusted to an artist who has made it one of the pinnacles of her repertoire.
